This facility is optimised where full line pressure is required e.g. where large pressure losses are due to restricted hose bore and/or from large runs of hose length. A significant advantage of this override mechanism is that it is 'failsafe'. This means that from shut down the valve always opens in safe mode (regulating). In order to bypass the regulating position the operator has to deliberately alter the setting. When the valve is shut down it automatically reverts to the safe setting (regulating). This provides key health and safety benefits to the end user.
NB: Examples of other areas where full line pressure is required (assuming this pressure is below the equipment rating): When feeding fixed water cannons/monitors or self inducing foam inductors where there are predicted high pressure losses.
